Finding balance in the great outdoors
With 15 years’ experience hiking in over 35 countries around the world, Kane Ford is the founder of ‘Get Outside Australia’. Initially he started hiking to create a more balanced lifestyle and release some of the pressure that builds up as a result of a demanding job and busy lifestyle.
In 2019 he decided to follow his passion and start to share the benefits of getting outside with locals and tourists seeking a private luxury guided hiking experience close to the centre of Melbourne. Within 12 months Kane was named Winner of the 2020 Business Australia Awards, Finalist for Channel 7’s ‘Kochies 2021 Back to Business’ competition and is an Ambassador for MYOB and global hiking brand Merrell.
Your safety and wellbeing is everything and Get Outside Australia is a Licensed Tour Operator, with all our guides holding a number of certifications including Level 3 First Aid (HLTAID003), Providing CPR and Basic Emergency Life Support.
Kane and the team also have a strong connection to Australia’s indigenous culture having volunteered for two months in various aboriginal communities in the West Kimberley region in far north Western Australia. He has also raised funds nationally to support the Indigenous Rangers program and enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience.

Respecting and supporting the Indigenous Community
Get Outside Melbourne acknowledges the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of the Kulin nation. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we explore. We pay our respects to ancestors and elders; past, present and emerging.
Kane has a strong connection to Australia’s Indigenous culture having spent two months volunteering in various Aboriginal communities in far-north Western Australia. He has also raised much-needed funding to support the local Indigenous Ranger programs such as the Karajarri Rangers and enjoys sharing his knowledge and experiences with guests.
